Twitter reaches approximately 200 monthly active users, making it one of the largest social media networks around. In a recent keynote address at MediaPost’s Social Inside Summit, Twitter’s Head of Global Product Marketing Guy Yalif noted that the company’s mobile users are its biggest asset. Small business owners can do mobile marketing without breaking the bank through Twitter, as its standard 140-character format is similar to the brevity of most SMS messages.
In his speech, Yalif noted that 120 million active users – 60 percent of the network’s total reach – log in through their mobile devices at least once a year. He also indicated that a “large chunk” or those mobile consumers use Twitter primarily through their smartphones and tablet computers.
Twitter also worked with Compete to determine the behaviors of mobile-first users. Data showed that 86 percent of Twitter members are more likely than average users to engage on the network multiple times a day. Business owners worried about mobile marketing changing the face of their industries don’t have to look far for help – social media marketing through Twitter reaches on-the-go consumers.
“Mobile users are the core of our platform – they’re the future of our platform, and are more engaged day-in, day-out, which creates many opportunities for us as marketers,” Yalif said.
Twitter marketing provides businesses with access to active internet users in real time. Recently, the social network announced a partnership with American Express to make it easier for businesses and consumers to sell and buy goods through the platform. As this technology develops, SMBs may find that Twitter helps them interact with their new and existing customers while leading to to higher conversion rates.
